Wien Energie unbundled its grid and sales operations in 2002 in order to meet the requirements set out by the European Union regarding the issue of liberalisation. This resulted in the creation of Wien Energie Vertrieb GmbH & Co KG. EnergieAllianz Austria GmbH (EEA), in which Wien Energie holds a 45 percent stake, is responsible for managing Wien Energie Vertrieb.
The core responsibilities of Wien Energie Vertrieb include the general management of energy sales, the development of new products and pricing. The company holds energy supply contracts with approximately 1.2 million private customers and supplies around 230,000 businesses and 4,500 farms in the Greater Vienna metropolitan area with electricity and gas.
EnergieAllianz looks after key accounts supplied with electricity, while EconGas looks after those supplied with gas.
Aside from providing comprehensive services and advice, Wien Energie Vertrieb has developed a range of products that is tailored to meet different customer needs.
EnergieAllianz Austria (EAA) is the joint energy sales company of Energie Burgenland AG, EVN AG and Wien Energie GmbH.
The EAA group is Austria’s largest alliance to bundle energy sales. A total of around 3.2 million customer facilities in Austria and abroad, including private households, businesses and industry, are supplied with electricity, natural gas and the associated services.
Given its focus on the sale of energy and services, EAA does not own any power plants, gas production facilities or distribution networks.
Electrical energy is purchased via the trading company e&t Energie Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H. from the international energy exchange Leipzig (EEX) and natural gas from our upstream supplier EconGas GmbH on the basis of long-term supply contracts.
